Once the finance guys and gambling addicts arrived it was "game over" for the geeky side of crypto.

Why would this bother HR? They don't give a shit about the coworkers either.

Everyone in the games industry is badly abused. Mostly because so many want to go into it. And yet game publishers continue to struggle with profitability because budgets have ballooned. I honestly think there's just not enough room in the market for the number of game studios we have today, at least not unless management improves and gets costs under control.

For one small idea, we probably don't really need Ron Perlman, Keanu Reeves, Kevin Spacey, Kit Harrington, Gary Oldman, Kiefer Sutherland, Willem Dafoe, Peter Dinklage, Samuel L. Jackon and Ray Liotta doing voice acting.

but Maelle didn't wouldn't be Maelle without Jennifer English

The beatings will continue until management improves and gets costs under control.

I agree shadow profiles are a huge problem, but I suspect they're not worth much to Meta in terms of revenue. You can't show ads to a shadow profile, for example. Best way to hurt them financially is to just log off.

I suspect they're not worth much to Meta in terms of revenue.

I think they're probably worth quite a bit, or Meta wouldn't spend billions acquiring and maintaining the data.

And as we know, in the valley there are always more and more customers for data, personal and otherwise.

I've been lured to more local businesses with radio spots and coupon booklets in the mail than Meta/Google ads. Probably an outlier, but still.

Edit: Oh, also comments on reddit r/$cityname recommending a local business are quite useful/effective. They might be botted to hell at this point, but I've never had a bad experience.

Unfortunately the malicious actor I want to protect my cookies from is Google.

Not really a serious argument when you are accessing a Google product. Sure, don't want to interact with Google? Don't interact with Google, but logging into Google workspaces with Firefox definitely isn't protecting your data from Google.

This is why the rich and powerful often seem so out of touch. There's no one around them willing to tell them they're wrong or push back on bad ideas. It doesn't just ruin skills but fundamentally distorts one's perception of the world.

It's going to get a lot worse than AI being unintentionally wrong. We're only at the start of the curve for this, but it's obvious that controlling what LLMs show in response to politically-charged topics is huge lever of power for those in charge.

So now imagine you're using Chineses AI/AR glasses that you've come to rely on for "knowledge" and you look at the famous picture from Tianemen square: "Doesn't look like anything to me".

> If you're trying to hide who you are from our very first interaction, that's a massive red flag.

If you're trying to collect personal information that's none of your business from the very first interaction, that's a massive red flag. Like how many data leaks and customer data exposures is it going to take to understand that the data I'm giving you is a liability for me? How much spam am I expected to put up with because you give my data to a "data broker" for one reason or another? Why should I trust anything you say regarding how you will handle my data after all the embarrassing fuck-ups over the years? What is your liability if you mishandle my data, is it approximately $0? Do you have an arbitration clause in your TOS so I can't even sue you when you screw up?

There's zero responsibility from the tech industry for their continued failures in this regard and then you have the temerity to lecture me about my "red flag"? Seriously?

You not bending over and opening your wallet is, frankly, a red flag. /s

Seems like we have a meeting of the minds here. You don't want me as a customer and I don't want you as a vendor (or payment processor). Enjoy your spamming :)
