The currency of the world is data. This the beginning of public restriction to data (currency). It always starts slowly. Start with kids, softly softly. Fast forward a couple of years and we absolutely know this will morph into total control of who has access to what, when and how. It will be used to curb whatever the ruling elite decide they don’t like and we probably won’t even know, as by then they will have full
spectrum dominance of all media & comms.
Look at how they flipped the switch on Mythos last week - do peope really believe these lunatic governments we’re all currently suffering from won’t go further after they start this? Some of you seem to think they still “ask” nicely... nope, they just do whatever they want now.
Same as whenever they talk about banning anything in society… They can’t keep drugs, weapons, phones, etc. out of prisons, which are entirely under government purview. Elect clowns, expect a circus.
Built a custom tower defense type clone for a client maybe 10 years ago… Coding it up in Objective C & Cocos2d was fairly straightforward. Probably spent 50% of the dev time taking in feedback, balancing the values on everything, progression of items, etc. what i’m saying is the functioning game logic (code) was really only one part of it.
I've built a few little games for myself both with and without AI, and completely agree. AI can help prototype an idea faster, or clone something very specific, but it can't make your control scheme feel good, invent a unique mechanic, etc (at least not yet).
My 8 year old LOVES Pokemon Go, and we regularly go to a local meet up which is a fascinating microcosm of people of all ages from all walks of life. We’ve met some great people and had some incredible conversations, but I really struggle to see how we can continue in good faith now.
I seriously loath, hate & despise everything about this digital panopticon world being constructed around us.
The data isn't guns though. Guns aren't a dual use technology that have a nonviolent purpose. Data is. The same data that trains military drones can also be used to train the robot that will bring food to grandma when she's so old that she can't walk up the stairs anymore.
I bet the targets don't feel like they're non-violent. The animal that was killed for food doesn't think anything, because it's dead. That's pretty violent. Shooting someone that attacking you in defense was necessary, but it's definitely violent.
All uses of guns are violent. That's what they do. They make holes in things that didn't have holes in them before. There are uses for them that are justified but they're always violent. This isn't an anti-gun screed, this is a words-mean-things rant. Violence is necessary and justified in various situations, which means guns are necessary and justified in various situations, but if you're going to say they're not violent, I can't agree.
If making holes in things that didn't have holes in them before is a sufficient condition for "violence", does that make drills violent too? Or is that taking words-mean-things too far?
Or perhaps can we accept that it is possible to make holes in things without doing violence, and that an object that can make holes in things is not inherently a violent object even though it would be violent if you made holes in things like people or animals, or in property without permission.
Targets are inanimate objects I’m fine with being violent against them just like I’m fine with farting on my chair!
Even if all uses of weapons are violence, sometimes violence is justified. If you disagree happy to violently rob you and disabuse you of your stupid ideas.
Opinions of people who lived sheltered lives are so divorced from reality
Extrapolate this whole
shit show out to society at large. That’s exactly where these AI companies are trying to force humanity.
I don’t want to live in a world where all knowledge is “guard railed” off, so the elite at the top get all the knowledge and power and we serfs at the bottom get all the scraps while paying the kings ransom for it both financially and ecologically. Everyday I wake up hoping these awful companies have self imploded through their fraudlent financing deals.
Wow… just wow. The future looks incredibly bleak if people are throwing fisftuls of money at this company. Anthropic will
quickly become the sole arbiter of everything in your life.
thankfully we will have a competing frontier model from the next lab shortly I'm sure and I hope they are reading this feedback and swing theirs the other direction.
Why do people think this is the future? Anthropic has the leading model, and so they're able to hold back functionality. They do so with obvious regards to safety.
If anything a future with models of such capabilities and no safeguards would be a bleak future. But its likely what were headed in once other companies catch up.
I think it’s safe to say that many of us feel a lot less safe directly because of these policies and the inferred intentions of the company behind them. Nobody is arguing for unsafe models. We just don’t want to live in the plot of Deus Ex.
I went to a London one once and this was totally my impression of it. The free beer and food was a drop in the bucket for what the massive corporate got out of it at the end.
Well yes, the great cabal of people bringing in these immense rafts of surveillance are the very people who commit, or who certainly hang out with the people who commit the most heinous acts. See the Epstein files.
Notice the same people will also talk during the daytime about morals and equality, while then conducting genocide in the evening.
