Probably a more obvious choice at the time we'd just gone through a point where the early releases of the latest memory generation (64k chips) had come with mysterious memory failures - eventually tracked down to natural alpha radiation from the ceramics used for packaging. We'd not long switch from core and semiconductor memory was still new
